Jerusalem and Ramallah

This week we met an author, John Hulley who has been living in Jerusalem 27 years. Bruce bought an unpublished book off him. He took us to a Jewish Orthodox area. Many women wear wigs to cover their own hair - some time ago there was a pogram and the women shaved off their hair to make themselves look ugly but wore wigs in public. It was an interesting section of town we would never have seen. John was a very interesting person also.

These photos show the main streets in Ramallah. It is one hours bus ride from Bethlehem.

The men are always busy - solving the problems of the world!! Yeah right.

A birth certificate shows that we were born
A death certificate shows we died
Pictures show that we lived!

Since it's Friday -

In Hebron at the tombs of Abraham, Sarah, Rebecca and Isaac, lots of children we eager to talk to us with their limited English. Good on them for having a go. Great attitudes!

This is a mosaic in the church on the Mount of Olives.

So many craftsmen have left their mark in this land.

I hope I can too.

This is the sort of scenery we see all the time here in Bethlehem.
Apartments seem to rise up out of the rock!

It doesn't always look so spartan though.
There is a bit of green around.

Weekly photos

I am going to use this Blog site to post photos each Friday of things that happen through the week. I may do more as I'm sure this will morph into more... well, not sure but possibly. It depends on how many people will follow or be interested. I guess it'll give me a good diary for our time of travel in the Middle East if nothing else.
So.... be watching!
